Mayor Hendricks Invites High School Students to Join Mayor's Youth Council

Hopkinsville Mayor Carter M. Hendricks will be accepting applications for the Mayor’s Youth Council known as MYCity. The Mayor encourages high school juniors and seniors from Christian County public, private, and home schools who are interested to apply. Serving on MYCity will afford students the opportunity to address issues that affect our community and to offer youth-centered solutions and ideas to local government. This is the program’s fourth year; it provides a platform for students to enhance leadership skills and empower volunteerism.
 
The application deadline is Friday, August 31, 2018, at 4:30 p.m. Application submissions must include:

  • Completed application form
  • Personal essay (300 words or less)
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation
  • Signed parental consent form
  • Photograph
Applications will be available at Hopkinsville Municipal Center located at 715 S. Virginia Street, Christian County High School, Heritage Christian Academy, Hopkinsville High School, Pennyroyal Area Christian Home Educators of KY (PACHEK), and University Heights Academy. Applications are also available for download from www.hoptown.org/mycity

Youth Council member interviews will be conducted between September 5th and 11th. Selection notices will be sent to all applicants by September 13th  before the mandatory orientation scheduled for the morning of Saturday, September 22nd.
